Description : a) Project Background - The High Level Forest area has identified 20.98 hectares of treatment outlined in the Zama City 10 year FireSmart plan. All 20.98 hectares will be treated through mechanical mulch, hand falling and pruning. The proposed blocks encompass fuels that have been identified as a risk to the community that can be mitigated through fuel modification treatments. b) Project Objective - The prime objective of this treatment is to reduce fuel load, fire intensity and ember transport by the thinning of conifer. This treatment is used to reduce the threat of a fully involved crown fire within black spruce and willow stands on the South West end of the community of Zama City. Dead and downed debris within the block will also be disposed of via mulching. c) Project structure - The Contract will be an all-inclusive disposal of targeted woody debris in a way that meets contractual standards. The work will require a combination of hand crews (power saws) and suitable mechanized mulching equipment.
