Project Description : The Lethbridge Waste and Recycling Center (WRC) has recently expanded services to accommodate Recycling (Blue Bin), Organics diversion (Green Bin) and Hydrovac material. This, along with expanded municipal solid waste management demands have led to increased vehicle traffic on-site. During peak vehicle volumes the current dual scale house has created a bottleneck causing delays and lines that can extend onto the public highway. To help ease these restrictions a new scale facility complete with unattended automated lines, traffic control measures and quad scales is required to be design and constructed.The facility needs to be fully operational by November 2023, additionally the construction and design will need to accommodate the continued operation of the current facility during construction.The scale facility will include specialized computer hardware, displays and software that will be procured under a separate competition.The City of Lethbridge will select a design/Construction management team comprised of a prime consultant (Professional Engineer or Architect), together with architectural, transportation/traffic, mechanical, fire protection, electrical, structural, civil, and other relevant consultants. All design professionals must be licensed to practice in the province of Alberta.
