The University of Alberta (the University) in Edmonton, Alberta, is the largest post-secondary institution in the province with student enrolment of approximately 40,000 full and part time students of which approximately 80% are undergraduate students and 20% are graduate students. The University offers over 200 undergraduate programs and over 500 graduate programs. The University employs an academic and support staff of approximately 14,500. Proponents are encouraged to visit our web site at www.ualberta.ca to learn more about the University.The University of Alberta is inviting the submission of Proposals to supply and install a thermal-based Waste Effluent Decontamination System (EDS), for the Hobman CFI BRIF Project at the University of Alberta. The EDS will be used to support work on Containment Level 3 (CL3) organisms and will allow researchers to study foreign animal disease (FAD) pathogens and other highly pathogenic microorganisms that pose a risk to the health of Canadians and the livestock industry. The EDS must be a thermal-based system (and must use gravity to feed the heat treatment unit, negating the requirement for maintenance-heavy mechanical pumps. The EDS will replace an existing Hydroclave Waste Treatment System that will be removed prior to the work contemplated here and is outside of the scope of this contract.
