- Wasoqopa-q First Nation's unique geographical composition through the Southwestern region of Nova Scotia spans five counties from Yarmouth to Halifax. A Mi'kmaw Nation with ties to traditional territory, Wasoqopa-q First Nation (WFN) encompasses six areas - Yarmouth, Ponhook, Medway, Wildcat, Gold River, and Hammonds Plains. Additionally, Wasoqopa-q First Nation has separate land holdings in Gardner's Mill and Shelburne. These lands boast the intrinsic beauty that Nova Scotia has to offer with lakes, rivers, resources and cultural significance. WFN is seeking solutions for the development of land within its boundaries to address their needs. The community seeks a longer-term strategy to assist with planning, funding requirements, development of land and service agreements, and environmental considerations by providing data that allows informed decision making.WFN is investigating the opportunities to develop suitable housing sites to meet predicted population growth over the next twenty-five years. Based on opportunity and growth, WFN is seeking to locate viable housing lots within their existing community boundaries. Colliers Project Leaders, on behalf of WFN, is assisting with this Request for Proposals to prepare a Subdivision Feasibility Study to guide WFN in shaping the future of the community from a housing perspective.
