Description:
The primary purpose of this project is to restore, to an ecologically functional state, a roughly two (2) US acre parcel of degraded moist-mixed, loamy grassland habitat immediately adjacent to Wanuskewin Heritage Park-s visitor center and publically accessible playground. This area was disturbed during construction activities in 2020, with initial attempts at restoration failing due to significant spring drought. This area is now characterized by sparse cover of desirable native species, incomplete vegetation cover, and significant presence of multiple noxious and nuisance invasive species. Wanuskewin is seeking proposals from interested bidders to: i. Manage, control, and remove undesirable invasive species within and immediately adjacent to proposed restoration site through any combination of acceptable practices (i.e., manual, mechanical, biological, and/or chemical methods) ii. Prepare the site for subsequent restorative activities through acceptable practices (i.e., physical, chemical and/or biological preparation), and iii. Seed/plant native species characteristic of moist-mixed, loamy grassland communities capable of further resilience to invasion of undesirable species and eventual self-organization.
