Description:
The University of Calgary (UCalgary) intends to purchase the AMSCO 630LS Medium Steam Sterilizer from Steris Canada Sales ULC. The UCalgary Faculty of Science currently operates multiple Steris autoclave units in its core autoclave facility, which supports numerous researcher groups in the Faculties of Science and Engineering, as well as serves as a backup facility for the Animal Care Unit. The trained staff have extensive experience with Steris units, including their operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. To ensure compatibility with the existing infrastructure and maintain smooth operations, the faculty requires a replacement steam sterilizer from the same manufacturer. The programming consistency across all Steris units minimizes the learning curve for users, ensuring seamless integration into current workflows. Introducing inconsistent units would cause significant disruption for over 100 users and does not align with the faculty-s strategic plan. Additionally, the faculty does not have the resources and time to train such a large user base on different models and this adds complications and extra time when troubleshooting equipment and programming issues, as well as maintenance and repairs.
