Description:
The University of Alberta is inviting consultants with demonstrated experience to analyze the university-s existing space data and to develop new space standards, utilization targets and benchmarks that support the university-s space optimization strategies. The successful proponent will have expertise and experience with post-secondary space classification and space standards, such as COU, including their recent update, and be able to apply generated space standard formulas to determine appropriate space targets for the university. The proponent will have expertise in the Alberta Infrastructure Building and Land Inventory Management System-s (BLIMS) Space Classification System and will be able to translate between any recommended space classification system and the BLIMS systems. The proponent will have knowledge of comparable space use targets from other Canadian U15 institutions and will recommend space benchmark targets, such as total area per full-time equivalent student. The scope will include a review and analysis of the university-s space inventory data tools, verification of the assumptions and data inputs used based on the updated COU space standards and guidelines, identification of missing data and gaps, and provide recommendations to improve the university-s approach. Working with the available university data, the proponent will recommend alternative methods of generating space targets and benchmarks, if COU methodologies are unattainable.
