- The University of Ottawa is pleased to invite qualified vendors to submit a proposal for a THM Advanced Dynamic Triaxial Testing System.This machine performs dynamic (cyclic) triaxial tests on soils (e.g., foundation soils for SMR, bentonite for buffer) and materials (e.g., tailings, cemented tailings) with different initial chemical composition (chemical factors, C) under controlled conditions of temperature (T) and hydraulics (H), (water content, pore water pressure) to assess their THMC behavior under dynamic conditions.This machine is a high-end cyclic testing device combining a triaxial cell and a dynamic actuator capable of applying loads, strains and stresses at 5 Hz on samples of different chemical compositions (C) under various temperature (-20°C to 80°C+) and/or hydraulic conditions, which enables to characterize the THM or THMC of the tested samples under dynamic (seismic) loads. The machine is equipped with high-precision sensors and data acquisition systems to capture and record relevant parameters, such as stress, strain, displacement, pore water pressure (positive, negative), and temperature, during the testing process. This allows for accurate measurement and analysis of soil/material response under dynamic (seismic) loading and under a variety of thermal (sub-zero and above-zero temperatures), chemical (soil/material chemical composition) and hydraulic loading conditions.
