    Description : This Request for Quote (“RFQ”) is an invitation to prospective Proponents to submit Quotes for the provision of Telemetry for Neurochemical Mechanisms in Depression & Cognition, including installation and on-site training. Exposure to stress during puberty can have long-lasting consequences on brain processing, behavior, and future response to stressors, including immune challenges. Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is a bacterial endotoxin and a component of the outer membrane of gram-negative bacteria. Intraperitoneal administration of LPS mimics the effects of bacterial infections by binding to and activating Toll-like receptor 4 on immune cells and the subsequent cellular cascade leads to the production of cytokines (pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory), cyclooxygenase-2, and prostaglandins (PGE2) in the periphery. PGE2 cross the blood brain barrier to act on specific brain regions: Vascular Organ of the Lamina Terminalis and Ventromedial Preoptic area of the Hypothalamus, causing cutaneous vasoconstriction, reduction of sweating, and increased heat production from metabolism of brown adipose tissue.
