The District of Summerland is one of only five municipalities in BC that owns and operates its Electrical Utility. Summerland purchases electrical energy from the transmission system wholesaler and sells that energy to residents through the Electrical Utility's distribution system. The power system utilizes a system voltage level of 8kV which will be upgraded to 25kV over time.
