Description:
This project captures the planned repair, maintenance and replacement work for the Spruce Grove Arena (Agrena Road) in alignment with the Facilities Asset Management plan. This project would include Roof Structure repair and an interior refresh with energy efficient upgrades and accessibility at theforefront of the renovation. Renovations to repair the failing concrete block, ceilings, and concrete slab while updating the existing vestibules, doors, and washrooms are needed based on their lifecycle but also to ensure accessibility to everyone enjoying the space. Updates would include new lobbydoors, adding accessibility openers to the vestibules and updating the washrooms to meet 2024 Building Code updates. These renovations would replace failed assets, improve the user experience, and create accessibility to all areas of the Arena and Curling rink ensuring there are no limitations to theenjoyment of recreation services in the Arena. The city completed a structural assessment and determined that the building is sound however there are significant signs of damage due to movement of the floating slab. Repairs would ensure that thresholds remain level, walls are properly anchored andthat damage to concrete block is repaired to ensure no further damage occurs. The Arena and curling rink hosts many events that draws a large volume of people, resulting in heavy use to the interior space.
