Description:
Through the Outfalls Remediation Project - City of Brampton, the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) has identified numerous high-priority storm outfalls positioned near the Humber River and Etobicoke Creek. A total of four (4) storm outfall sites in need of rehabilitation were identified, which include a total of seven (7) outfalls.
The outfall sites are located across the City of Brampton. Site 1 is located near the intersection of Castlemore Road and Humberwest Parkway, Site 2 and Site 3 are both located near the intersection of Castlemore Road and the Gore Road, and Site 4 is located on Kennedy Road near Highway 407. Sites 1, 2, and 3 drain to the Humber River, while Site 4 is within the Etobicoke Creek watershed.
The aim of the project is the remove the excessive sedimentation and vegetation growth surrounding each of the outfalls and channelized areas. Debris, vegetation, and sediment buildup were identified to inhibit flows along the outfall areas and pooling has been identified downstream of the outlets.
