Description:
The Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) requires the services of a Contractor to undertake erosion protection measures downstream of a 0.5m wide concrete weir (identified as erosion control structure HR 81.1) that spans 55m across the Humber River. The site is located 3.6 km upstream from Lake Ontario, between Bloor Street and Dundas Street.
The concrete weir has caused downstream erosion. The retaining wall on the south bank has been outflanked, resulting in the displacement of the concrete blocks and failure of the existing retaining wall. The river is encroaching towards and placing a near-by trail, approximately 33m downstream of HR 81.1, at risk due to a large scour and has eroded and damaged 20 Old Mill Road-s parking lot.
The general scope of work includes, but is not limited to the following:
Replacing the displaced and missing concrete blocks and tie it into the existing concrete block retaining wall.Removing asphalt from the parking lot (minimizing parking spaces removed) and repositioning the guard rail further into the parking lot.Restoring the disturbed areas with topsoil, terraseed mixture, and approved plantings.Vegetation restoration and aquatic habitat enhancement through the placement of new trees and plantings.Provisional installation of a permanent access road to the concrete weirParticipation in this RFT solicitation is subject to successful prequalification under RFPQ No. 10043326 - Request for Pre-Qualification for Erosion Control, Slope Stabilization and Infrastructure Construction Works.
RFT 10043138 has been identified as Category A1 (Bank/slope/channel stabilization projects, natural channel construction, retaining walls, drainage channels, revetments and buttresses valued between $100,000 to $3 million). This Tender call is eligible exclusively to Bidders prequalified under Category A1.
