  • Description:
  • The project site is located within Birchbank Park, along Spring Creek, near the major intersection of Dixie Road and Birchbank Road, in the City of Brampton. The area is part of the Etobicoke Creek watershed and includes critical bank stabilization efforts to protect existing infrastructure from ongoing erosion hazards. The 300 Orenda Road Bank Stabilization and Erosion Control Project focuses on two main inspection sites identified by TRCA. These sites feature a gabion basket retaining wall and concrete revetment infrastructure along the south-side bank of Spring Creek, both of which have sustained significant damage due to scouring and outflanking. Additionally, material buildup in the channel threatens to worsen the structural instability of these protective features.
The project aims to address the erosion risks at these locations, ensuring the long-term stability of the creek banks and protection of nearby infrastructure. Previous inspections and monitoring, have highlighted the urgency of these repairs due to ongoing degradation following significant storm events. The project area includes the erosion sites and stretches upstream and downstream to ensure proper transitions and to mitigate further erosion hazards.
