Description:
The City of Prince Rupert has committed to aggressively working towards replacing and renewing its infrastructure in a cost effective and strategic way, as articulated in the City's Strategic Plan. To support this goal, the existing sanitary and storm sewer system (collectively referred to as the sewer system), which serves both residential and commercial areas, requires a comprehensive evaluation to ensure its capacity, reliability, and efficiency. This project aims to develop a hydraulic model to simulate current and future flow rates to identify capacity concerns, areas for potential improvements, and create a plan to guide future investments and operational strategies to accommodate capacity needs within the sewer system. Importantly, this plan will be used as a tool to guide utility improvements and infrastructure renewal decisions and ensure investments are completed in an organized and cost-effective manner. It will also be a pivotal tool for successfully implanting the legislative requirement of Bill 44 Housing Statutes (Residential Development) Amendment Act. The successful consultant will bring expertise in hydraulic modeling, sewer system planning, and infrastructure management to support the City's goals of maintaining high environmental standards and accommodating growth.
