Project Description : SummaryThe Town of Banff seeks to engage a firm to design and install an expansion to the existing grid‐tied 280 kW solar photovoltaic system on the roof of the Fenlands Recreation Centre. Construction is expected to occur between April‐July 2023.Project BackgroundThe Town of Banff-s Renewable Energy Transition Roadmap outlines ambitious goals for a long‐term transition to renewable energy for the community and identifies solar photovoltaics as a key enabling technology. Solar is continuing to grow in our community, and ongoing growth of the municipal solar PV portfolio is essential in supporting the transition.Since 2011, the Municipality has installed nine solar PV arrays: 2011 - 3 kW, Wolf Street Washroom 2013 - 18 kW, Town Hall 2015 - 2 kW, Central Park Washroom 2017 - 280 kW, The Fenlands Recreation Centre 2018 - 24 kW, Fleet Services 2020 - 100 kW, Waste Transfer Station 2020 - 2 kW, Rundle Cabin (off‐grid) 2021 - 302 kW, Roam Transit Operations and Training Centre 2021 - 12 kW, Energy CentreTo grow our portfolio further, the Town is planning to expand the current solar PV array on the roof of the Fenlands Recreation Centre.Fenlands Recreation Centre Solar Array - BackgroundThe Fenlands Recreation Centre, located at 100 Mt Norquay Road in Banff, is a community hub that includes two arenas, four curling sheets, a concourse, concession, ...
