- Today, secure encryption algorithms are used to protect IESO data and communications in transit and at rest. With the advancement in quantum computing there is a growing risk of eventual decryption to these secure encryption algorithms. To prepare for the eventuality and ensure the IESO understands its current posture and risk associated with this threat, including what needs to be done, the IESO needs to perform a post quantum risk analysis that will ensure when this watershed moment occurs the IESO is ready and has remediated or is actively working to remediate the risk.
