Description : Background Information The Municipality of Colchester is in Central Nova Scotia. It owns and maintains significant infrastructure, including operational buildings, undeveloped lands, and a Solid Waste landfill. As part of the Municipality-s due diligence and to ensure we continue to comply with Public Sector Accounting Standards, the Municipality wishes to complete an assessment of its future remediation cost liabilities for various municipal properties which have been identified as having, or potentially having, an asset retirement obligation. Consultants should be capable of providing a report to the Municipality which has undertaken such assessment of applicable assets and determines the asset retirement obligation currently, the discounted value of the obligation at the time the asset was recognized by the Municipality, accretion expense, and amortization of the asset recorded under PS 3280. The report-s recommendations will then be used to determine both the current and future financial statement and balance sheet liabilities on a going concern basis.
