  • Summary The Canadian Coast Guard's Vessels of Concern (VOC) Program (now Environmental Response and Marine Hazards: MHER), Central Region, conducted a technical assessment of a vessel of concern located in Gatineau, Quebec, in the Lac Leamy outlet on November 10, 2020. Following receipt of the assessment report, it was determined by the MHER Program that the wreck presented a significant level of danger to public health, safety and welfare. Following this assessment, it was decided to proceed with the removal of the wreck in order to eliminate the identified hazards. Description of work required • Remove all submerged and immersed parts of the wreck; ? The wreck must be removed exclusively by sea using the necessary means (barge, crane, divers, etc.) to dismantle the vessel from the water. ? Only those parts of the wreck not buried in the seabed are to be removed by cutting at seabed level. The project authority will give permission if buried parts can be removed. ? Mitigation measures must be put in place to minimize the risk of environmental hazards caused by excavation and dismantling work. (see non-exhaustive list in Section 4) ? Mitigation measures will have to be put in place prior to the work to allow diving and recovery of parts of the wreck by the Musée Maritime de Charlevoix (MMC).
