- The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has a requirement to purchase two (2) Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), with the option of purchasing an additional five (5) systems anytime within two (2) years of contract award. The requirement also includes an option to purchase additional controllers, multi‐battery charging stations, batteries, controller batteries, propellers and an extended one‐year warranty for each RPA. These devices are used to assist RCMP officers with daily operational duties in relation to border security. The RCMP began using RPAS in December of 2010. Since that time, the program has grown to meet the needs of different investigational business lines and requires additional RPAS to support the RCMP-s mandate.
