  • RFB to implement a Boreal Caribou monitoring program in Ontario by undertaking distance sampling aerial surveys and demographic classifications to produce population estimates for each of the thirteen (13) continuous Ranges and demographic classifications and collaring of adult females in eight (8) priority Ranges to determine population trend for those Ranges. An integral part of implementation of the monitoring program includes providing opportunities for local Indigenous communities to participate in the monitoring activities as well as share Indigenous traditional and community knowledge. Scope of Work Implement a Boreal Caribou monitoring program in the thirteen (13) continuous Boreal Caribou Ranges in Ontario. The monitoring program must be implemented by using aerial services to conduct distance sampling aerial surveys and demographic classifications in all thirteen (13) Boreal Caribou Ranges and demographic classifications and collaring of adult females in eight (8) priority Ranges, compiling data collected through the monitoring, and completing analysis to estimate population size and population trend in each Range. Outreach to Indigenous communities must be undertaken to offer opportunities to participate in the surveys, share Indigenous traditional and community knowledge, and seek out support for the survey operational base to be located in an Indigenous community (if required).
