Description : RFP for the provision of the analytical services to acquire Uranium-Lead age-determination and trace element analysis of rock samples for Ontario Geological Survey bedrock mapping projects, for the Ministry of Mines. Scope of Work The Ministry of Mines is inviting bids for Uranium-Lead (U-Pb) geochronology and trace element contents of zircon using Laser Ablation Inductively-Coupled Plasma Ionization Mass Spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) for rock samples collected from Precambrian rocks by the Ontario Geological Survey (OGS) a) Analytical work will be required over a period of two fiscal years (from May 2023 to March 2025) and will consist of U-Pb age dating of detrital, magmatic and/or metamorphic zircons, and other dateable minerals, from approximately 25 rock samples/year. On selected samples, trace element analysis will be requested from zircon. Trace elements include titanium, the rare-earth elements, and/or lutetium hafnium ratios. Samples will be shipped to the successful bidder throughout the calendar year.
