Description : RFB for the Provision of Specialized Geoscience Scanning Service for Resident Geologist Program Offices (Timmins, Sudbury, Thunder Bay) Scope of Work The purpose of this project is to create a searchable, digital data set from hard copy donated geoscience materials that are currently archived at the Ontario Geological Survey-s Resident Geologist Program offices. Most of these files are one-of-a-kind and relate to historical mineral exploration activity. The digital files that are generated from this project will be made available to the public on-line through our Geology Ontario portal. These materials are a valuable source of geoscience information that can be used to inform the mineral exploration decision-making process. Making these files available digitally will provide an increased profile and easier access to these materials. This in turn is likely to result in new investments in mineral exploration across the province. This project will extend until March 31, 2023 and will involve the digitization of documents located in the Sudbury, Timmins and Thunder Bay Resident Geologist Program offices.
