Description : The Ontario Ministry of Energy is seeking bids for a Cost-Effective Energy Pathways Study (“Study”) for Ontario. The Study will take an integrated approach of Ontario-s economy and trajectory of growth across different sectors to optimize, from an economic, environment, and cost perspective, technological options to prepare the transition to a decarbonized energy system, and will examine their associated costs and benefits. The Study will analyze different cost-effective pathways for plausible and useful scenarios representing key uncertainties that Ontario-s energy sector should be prepared for. The Study has a ceiling price of CAD $1,500,000 before Harmonized Sales Tax. A Bid that includes a Total Bid Price exceeding $1,500,000 will be disqualified. The scope covers: all fuels as well as electricity, including non-energy fuels; all fuel-using sectors; a time period extending to 2050; and scenarios that are the most plausible or most useful most cost-effective pathways. These scenarios may represent a range of socio-technical uncertainties (e.g., variations in the cost of fuels, electricity and technologies impacting the rate of electrification) and GHG constraints.
