Description:
The District of Houston is looking to pre-qualify Div. 03 contractors with recent, and successful experience in refrigerated arena slab concrete remediation.
The District of Houston (the “District”) is looking to remediate the existing refrigerated floor - perimeter slab (only), at the Claude Parish Memorial Arena in Houston BC, in the spring. The purpose of this opportunity is to prequalify specialty contractors who will be invited to provide a stipulated sum price for the work in a further tender opportunity in January 2026. It is anticipated the work will commence in April 2026 with an estimated four (4) month construction schedule under a CCDC 17 2025 contract. The District is currently preparing specifications and drawings for this project and a site tour will be required during any future phase.
It is anticipated the contracted work will generally include: Removal of complete arena boards, including framing and glass, and store onsite for re-installation; remove or cutback existing specific wood framed bleachers, platforms, railings, timekeeper booth, and players and penalty boxes. Saw cut perimeter concrete slab and thickening, taking care not to damage ice rink concrete slab. Provide a new cast in place concrete perimeter slab and related specific hardware. Reinstall completed arena boards including framing and glass, and make good all bleachers, platforms, railings, timekeepter booth, and players and penalty boxes.
