Notice is hereby given that Vancouver Coastal Health Authority (the “Health Authority”), through it-s agent Provincial Health Services Authority (“PHSA”), intends to directly award a Contract to the following supplier to provide one (1) Testiscan & Wavelength II for Vancouver Prostate Centre at an estimated value of $114,000 plus applicable taxes. NRSign 3570,48thWestAve, Vancouver BC V6N 3R1 In accordance with applicable trade agreements PHSA, as agent for the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority has chosen not to proceed with a competitive process for the following reason: •the goods or services can be supplied only by the selected supplier and no alternative or substitute exists for the following reason: (a) due to an absence of competition for technical reasons The required NIRS optical probe (Testiscan) with WaveMaster II system is a custom-made, multi-channel device with exchangeable emitters for variable depth of penetration, designed by Dr. Kourosh Afshar for assessment of scrotal content in children and adults. This state-of-the-art research equipment is not commercially available, and only this vendor can meet all required specifications. The unit will be used solely for UBC-approved clinical research, and no other vendor can provide an equivalent product.
