- The Corporation-s 138 kV transmission lines were constructed in the late 1960-s to early 1970-s and serve the critical function of linking key hydro generation sources (Aishihik, Whitehorse hydro & Faro peak load generations) to load centres in Whitehorse and the northern grid. With the prospective development of industrial load in the northern grid, and the continued importance of the Faro generating assets are critical during peaking winter loadings, reliability of the 138 kV transmission line backbone remains critical to the Corporation.The south-east bank of Pelly River south of Faro substation had been eroded due to the changes in river current. As the erosion continues, the existing transmission line structure L178-1578 will be in danger due to soil instability. Along this segment of transmission line corridor, the 138kV L178 share the same corridor with YEC L356 25kV distribution line.Project involve the realignment of L178-1577, L178-1578, L356-007 and L356-008 Pelly Crossing structures with new guyed steel poles H-frame structures and rebuild of L178-1579 and L356-006 adjacent structures on north side to accommodate new alignment angles.The Pelly River Replacement Project comprises the following activities: Excavation of pole holes and helical anchor installation Structure installation and framing Stringing new conductors and shield wires for Pelly River crossing spans Transfer existing conductors to new L178 and L356 structures on north-east side of crossings Salvag...
