  • Detailed_Description : The psychologist will assist the Ministry Peer Support Coordinator in developing program frameworks and methodologies, training materials, and best practices for providing peer support sessions in-person, virtually, or via other telecommunication methods such as text message. The psychologist will use a trauma-informed approach when developing/designing program frameworks, methodologies, principles, training practices, and best practices. The psychologist will apply a diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and anti-oppression lens when developing/designing program frameworks, methodologies, principles, training materials, and best practices. The Ministry-s new Peer Support Program will consist of an internal team of self-nominated employees, referred to as β€˜Peer Supporters- to be trained by the psychologist to provide immediate support to colleagues potentially impacted by work-related trauma, coping difficulties, personal crisis, and / or stressful life events.The psychologist will support the Ministry Peer Support Coordinator, who will act as a liaison between the psychologist, the Peer Supporters, and the Ministry.
    Scope of Work : Training will be comprised of various reference materials - including a manual, regular training sessions, and an annual in-person 5-day training retreat run by the psychologist.Psychologist is responsible for the following:1.Evaluation of the Suitability of People for the Peer Supporter Role: review applications and interview candidates within 3 weeks; prepare written report detailing suitability of candidates and recommendation for acceptance or not within 1 week after interviews.2.Training of Peer Supporters: Create materials for and run a 5-day in person training retreat at a location within 3hrs of Toronto held at the end of October or beginning of November of each year; create a training manual for use and reference of Peer Support participants; plan and develop training materials for use at bi-monthly (every 2 months for a total of 5) virtual training sessions. All training materials will be iterative and will be updated prior to each annual training session.3.Counselling Services for Peer Supporters: provide additional 30 minute counselling services to certain Peer Supporters after emotionally difficult peer support sessions - no more than 12 per year and only when requested by Peer Support Coordinator; record dates and times of all counselling sessions and provide to Peer Support Coordinator twice a year (every 6 months); offer issue specific resources, advice, and recommendations on an as needed basis no more than 6 times per year; recommend additional trauma-informed professionals and resources when requested, no more than 5 times per year.4.Program Assessment and Continuous Improvement: meet virtually with the Peer Support Coordinator and prepare a written report twice a year (every 6 months) to discuss program issues, areas of opportunity, and provide recommendations for program enhancement; and recommend pathways to success.
