Tender are invited for Peace Region Caribou Recovery Air Operations
Project Description : Woodland Caribou (Rangifer tarandus caribou) are listed as a Threatened species in Alberta under the Wildlife Act, and in Canada under the Species at Risk Act (SARA). Additionally, In May 2014 the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC) recommended that the Central Mountain (DU8) woodland caribou population be reassigned to Endangered status. Habitat alteration and predation linked to industrial footprint have been identified as the main ultimate causes of caribou population decline in Alberta.
