INTRODUCTION FCM and the Green Municipal Fund The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) has been the national voice of municipal government since 1901. It represents the interests of all Canadian municipalities on policy and program matters within federal jurisdiction and serves its members in both official languages. Representing 90 percent of Canada's municipal population, FCM members include Canada's largest cities, small urban and rural communities, and 20 provincial and territorial municipal associations. In 2000, the Government of Canada endowed FCM to establish and grow the Green Municipal Fund (GMF), a globally unique and catalyzing fund that gives municipalities nationwide the tools they need to accelerate the transition to a resilient, net-zero, and sustainable future. GMF is a $2.4 billion fund that offers a mix of funding, capacity development, and strategic support to help Canadian communities adopt high-performing climate solutions and practices more quickly. Low Carbon Cities Canada (LC3)With funding from the Government of Canada, Low Carbon Cities Canada, or LC3, was launched as part of the LC3-FCM Collaboration on Community Climate Action program.
