Tender are invited for OSMOSE ASSESSMENT, RISK MANAGEMENT, AND DRAINAGE PROGRAM
Project Description : Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP) works to protect and enhance Alberta-s environment and ecosystems to ensure a sustainable future, making life better for Albertans. Alberta legislation requires soil and groundwater conservation and reclamation for most industrial activities and for all activities on public lands. AEP provides the necessary oversight to ensure this legislative requirement is met, and in cases where AEP is the person responsible under the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act (EPEA), takes on the responsibility of remediation and/or risk management of contaminated sites.Historic lumber preservation operations have resulted in soil and groundwater contamination at the former Osmose wood preservers site, located at SW-15-73-11 W5M near Faust, Alberta, (the Site) and bordering Lesser Slave Lake. Assessment and source area remediation has occurred since 1991. In 2018, a site-specific risk assessment (SSRA) and exposure control plan was completed to establish risk-based guidelines and develop a plan to mitigate any remaining exposure risk. The results of the risk assessment identified several areas which required further action due to arsenic and/or dioxins/furans concentrations at or near surface in exceedance of established guidelines.
