• Description:
• The proposed treatment area is 27.7 hectares, located approximately 23.5 km or an 18-minute drive South of Quesnel. The treatment is located at the end of Arnoldus road, which branches off as a recreation trail that encompasses the outer boundary of this treatment unit. Some overstory removal has been prescribed to reduce the crown bulk density and fire hazard nearest to the community. The full cruise surveys estimate a removal of approximately 1400 cubic metres of merchantable conifer volume. The treatment aims to reduce surface fire intensity below 2000kW/m while balancing the sensitive recreational values of the community. The province intends on requesting a 10% performance security deposit on works performed under this contract. All work including the removal of material and the completion of hazard abatement must be substantially completed by March 15, 2025. If hazard abatement work cannot be done within the timeline due to unforeseen circumstances, such as dry weather or poor venting, a contract extension may be considered for when conditions are more appropriate. Contract extensions are subject to funding for the new fiscal year.
