Forestry Research Projects

Summary Details:
The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development (FLNRORD) intends to direct award a research contract (transfer payment) for the following proposed work/services under three strategic pillars:
· Enhance Economic Viability-Demonstrate the viability of new products and clean technologies to enhance the forest resource and produce value chain;
· Improve Environmental Sustainability-Position BC as a clean technology leader in developing processes, tools, and technologies to identify and support forest carbon value, sustainable resource development, and environmental monitoring;
· Provide Indigenous Technical Support-Strengthen capacity in Indigenous and rural communities in BC's new forest bio-economy and support value-added opportunities for small and medium enterprise industrial clusters.
FLNRORD contributes funds annually through the Shared Cost Arrangement in FPInnovations' research in forest management and sustainability, including: value chain optimization; building and living with wood; advanced biomaterials and biochemical; bioenergy; and precision forestry. The proposed work/service is to be carried out by FPInnovations at a contract price of $2,200,000. The anticipated term of the contract is from March 31, 2022, to March 15, 2023.
