Description:
Vancouver Coastal Health Authority (VCH) intends to overhaul Cooling Tower 2 (the Project) for Vancouver General Hospital (VGH). The value of the contract and work is anticipated to be $680,000.00 to $800,000.00 plus tax. VCH has chosen not to complete a public tendering process for the Project but negotiate and award the contemplated work and contracting for the following reasons: • Cooling Tower 2 is a 3000 ton open water cooling tower model CT1-1335 manufactured by Baltimore Aircoil Company (BAC). It is due for overhaul, major repairs and refurbishment. This includes recoating part or all of the tower, replacing the fill, bearings, shafts, motors, inlets, snouts, nozzels, grommets, gaskets, installing NEMA 3 variable frequency drives, heaters, control transformer, pilot lights, selector switches, harmonic filter and other items so components are to BAC specifications for reliable operation and extended lifespan. Baltimore Aircoil Company represented locally by H.R Hudson as the OEM has the expertise, knowledge, experience, OEM parts and engineered replacements for Cooling Tower 2 and is appropriate for this work in the Project; • Cooling Tower 1 and 2 are identical towers and critical workhorses for VGH year round.
