- The University of Calgary intends to purchase the BIOFIRE Mycoplasma system from Biomerieux Canada Inc. This system will be utilized for quality testing of clinical-grade cell therapy drug products (DP) manufactured in-house (University of Calgary/Alberta Health Services). Testing of cellular therapy DP for mycoplasma is a regulatory requirement by Health Canada and United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to ensure the sterility and safety of the product prior to release for patient infusion. A robust instrument that has the capacity to handle the demands of multiple clinical trials and aligns with the required industry standards is required. To the research team-s knowledge, Biomerieux Canada, Inc. is the only supplier that can provide this system that meets all requirements.
