Location : Canada, National Capital Region, All of National Capital Region
Description : To supply and install the mechanical, plumbing and electrical infrastructure for a mechanical composter to divert organic waste from landfill and process it onsite. The unique benefit of this composter is that it includes several additional sensors that will allow for real-time monitoring of the system. This will facilitate a circular process that produces a usable end product that can be used as a nutrient rich soil amendment or biofuel. This will support the diversion of substantial amount of waste currently being sent to landfill as well as reduce GHG emissions associated with waste transportation and organic waste decomposition in landfill/traditional composting facility. The costs related to the unit will be covered by ISED and will be installed by the vendor within the loading dock area. The BGIS delivered project will consist of a mechanical exhaust vent along with water and drain line to the unit as well as electrical power connection. Any structural support or requirement for the unit will need to be reviewed by the consultant, although preliminary analysis did not indicate that additional structural support will be required. The consultant shall coordinate with the unit supplier/manufacturer for all requirements of the unit to be functional on site. - Documents:
