September 9, 2021, Amendment #1: Closing date has been extended to September 20, 2021 at 2pm.
The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development (FLNRORD), West Coast Region is seeking bids from qualified contractors to develop a population monitoring plan for Marbled Murrelets in British Columbia. The plan will be developed with guidance from FLNRORD staff.
The intent of this contract is to determine appropriate sampling designs required to monitor population trends coast-wide and for each of six BC Conservation Regions (excluding the Alaska Border Region), and at a sub-region level (e.g., 2-3 sub-regions per Conservation Region to be determined with FLNRORD) according to the objectives of the BC Implementation Plan for the Marbled Murrelet (2018). Population monitoring will focus exclusively on the use of standardized marine radar surveys to estimate population size at the watershed scale (sampling unit).
The sampling design recommendations will build on previous monitoring and analyses conducted by the Province and the Canadian Wildlife Service. The existing database of radar surveys includes over 1400 surveys conducted between 1996-2021 at over 160 stations across the six Conservation Regions; data has been through QA for previous trend ...
