  • The University is soliciting prospective proponents to submit proposals for a Magic-Angle Spinning Solid-State Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Probe.A magic-angle spinning (MAS) solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance probe with two or more radiofrequency channels capable of MAS rates above 10 kHz using 3.2 or 4.0 mm rotors is required for advanced research in NMR spectroscopy and its application to the study of molecular structure and dynamics. Magic-angle spinning involves the rapid (many kHz) rotation of a powdered sample in the NMR probe to remove residual anisotropic broadening from the NMR spectra. This standard technique is absolutely essential to obtain high-resolution NMR spectra of spin-1/2 and quadrupolar nuclei including 13C, 15N, 17O, 23Na, 29Si, 31P, 77Se, and many more. MAS provides β€˜solution-like' spectra of many isotopes and enables the assignment of resonances and the elucidation of molecular structure.Mandatory Requirements:1. Magic-angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance probe and accessories1.1 Must achieve MAS speeds β‰₯ 10 kHz with 3.2 or 4.0 mm rotors.1.2 Must have two or three radiofrequency channels including 1H.1.3 Must be capable of variable-temperature experiments.1.4 Must have at least one broadbanded rf channel.1.5 Must be compatible with, or adaptable to, existing Bruker NMR Avance III console, Bruker 9.4 T widebore magnet, and related components.1.6 Must be compatible with existing TopSpin NMR software and Bruker MAS 1 hardware.
