Tender are invited for Long Range Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS)
Project Description : The Government of Alberta, has identified a need for long range remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) to assist in the support of Crown Land Management, Enforcement Operations, Search and Rescue and Environmental Emergency Response.This need is beyond the current capabilities of the GoA fleet of RPAS units, due to the requirements for specific sensors and the need for long range aerial coverage over extended periods of time.Long range RPAS units would be employed to assist monitoring and enforcement operations on Crown Lands by providing persistent surveillance of large and remote areas, as well as specific areas of concern where groups of people have been known to congregate on public lands.The employment of RPAS units would be integrated into joint enforcement operations in order to maximize efficiencies and allow for better assignment of limited personnel resources. RPAS units would also be available to support Search and Rescue operations with the ability to detect people in remote locations. This will contribute to AEP public safety responsibilities during an emergency such as wildfires or floods, as well as the Kananaskis Public Safety mountain rescue team.RPAS units would also be available to augment current river monitoring efforts by observing flooded areas or potential communities in danger of flooding.
