  • Licensed (as defined within Transport Canada-s Marine Personnel Regulations) Senior Marine Engineers (3rd and 4th Class), Masters (i.e. Captains), Mates, and Oilers for the Wolfe Island Ferry Service.
    Detailed_Description : The Ministry of Transportation requires the provision of qualified, appropriately licensed, and certified Senior Marine Engineers (third (3rd) and fourth (4th) Class), Masters (i.e. Captains), Mates, and Oilers to serve aboard the MV Wolfe Islander IV and/or MV Wolfe Islander III.The Wolfe Island ferry service runs between Kingston and Wolfe Island and is an essential service that operates 365 days per year. The primary vessel on the route is the Wolfe Islander IV, with the Wolfe Islander III operating in a back-up capacity. The vessel is crewed twenty-four (24) hours per day.
    Scope of Work : The Vendor shall provide the following licensed positions, as defined in Transport Canada-s Marine Personnel Regulations, SOR/2007-115, for the full duration of the contract:1. Two (2) Senior Marine Engineers which must possess at a minimum Third-Class Motor Certificate which must be fully STCW Reg. III/1 Compliant; Marine Emergency Duties Certificate (STCW Level Minimum); Marine Medical Certificate. The proposed Senior Marine Engineers must have completed a level 2 "Engine Room Simulator - base course" and passed the required PPS2 exam.2. On an as-needed basis, two (2) Captains with Chief Mate 500 Gross Tonnage Domestic Certificate; Transport Canada Emergency Duties Certificate; Radiotelephone Operator-s (restricted) Certificate; Continued Proficiency Endorsement; Marine Medical Certificate; Azimuth Thruster experience.3. On an as-needed basis, two (2) Ferry Mates with Chief Mate 500 Gross Tonnage Domestic Certificate; Marine Emergency Duties Certificate; Marine Medical certification; Radiotelephone Operator-s (restricted) Certificate.4. On an as-needed basis, two (2) Senior Marine Engineers which shall possess at a minimum Fourth-Class Motor Certificate which is fully STCW Reg. III/1 compliant; Marine Emergency Duties Certificate (STCW Level Minimum); Marine Medical Certificate. Has completed a level 2 "Engine Room Simulator - base course" and has passed the required PPS2 exam. Note - This position is specific to the Wolfe Islander III.5. On an as-needed basis, two (2) Oilers with Engine Room Rating Certificate; Marine Emergency Duties Certificate (STCW Level Minimum); Marine Medical certification Note - this position is specific to the Wolfe Islander III.NOTE: Throughout the duration of the Contract the Ministry may require fewer than two (2) of the positions specified above, subject to operational needs.
