- The Walkerton Clean Water Centre-s (Centre) training program is provided to Learners, such as drinking water operators, owners, and operating authorities of drinking water systems. The Centre provides training across the Province of Ontario through in-class, e-learning (online self-directed learning), virtual (synchronous live online classroom) and/or correspondence (distance learning by receiving materials through the mail). On average, the Centre hosts an LMS that has 63,000 total users with approximately 400 participants per month and 4,800 participants per year.
The Centre provides mandatory training required to obtain or renew licenses issued by the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks. The Centre also offers up to 47 specialized courses of various aspects of small, municipal and First Nation drinking water systems. In-class or virtual courses can vary from one to five-day courses; self-directed e-learning and select correspondence courses are active for 12 months; and other correspondence courses are active for 4 weeks.
The Centre-s Helpline and DWRL helps improve the understanding of common drinking water issues. The DWRL is an online library containing more than 5,000 resources that have been previously reviewed by the Centre on topics of importance to water professionals.
