Description : McMaster University has a requirement for the purchase of a hybrid additive-subtractive ultrafast 3D micro and nanofabrication workstation. The workstation should be capable to creating fine 3D optical waveguides and microfluidic channels in transparent ceramics such as glass. This capability will allow integration of optical, mechanical, and fluidic functionalities in a single glass monolith without the need for post-processing or additional assembly. The workstation should also be capable to creating/building submicrometer resolution 3D polymer structures on planar substrates or within the subtractively machined structures such as the microchannels formed in glass. These features will be used to integrate valving and pumping elements within the microchannels as well as gating mechanisms for waveguides.
