Description : City of Prince George (City), located in Northern British Columbia, operates a Wastewater Treatment Plant located on the banks of the Fraser River. Originally built in c. 1967, the plant treats raw sewage generated from the residential, industrial, institutional, and commercial developments within the City, with an estimated serviced population of 86,000 residents (maximum discharge of 45,000m3/day). The plant is situated in close proximity to a residential area and commercial and retail establishments. The biosolids are secondary anaerobically digested and have been mechanically dewatered using centrifuge(s). These biosolids have physical properties similar to manure or a moist soil with a high silt or clay content. The average total solids content is 25% and the bulk density is approximately 1,000 kilograms per cubic metre (kg/m3). The plant produces approximately 3,000 tonnes of dewatered biosolids per annum and has the capacity to store approximately 6,000 tonnes onsite at an outdoor asphalt staging area.
