Description:
Since February 2012, the Government of Alberta represented by Alberta Environment and Protected Areas (AEPA), and the Government of Canada, represented by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), have worked under a Memorandum of Understanding to implement an environmental monitoring program for the oil sands that integrates air, water, land and terrestrial biological monitoring. The Oil Sands Monitoring (OSM) Program strives to improve characterization of the state of the environment and enhance understanding of the cumulative effects of oil sands development activities in the oil sands area.AEPA conducts regular monitoring activities for OSM projects. These activities include collecting various types of samples (e.g., water, sediment, biological materials), which then are analyzed for selected parameters at suitable analytical laboratories.This RFP supports the delivery of OSM projects via the establishment of contracts with laboratories to provide the analytical services outlined in Appendix B of the RFP.
