Summary Details:
Advances in remote sensing technology, geostatistical programming, machine learning and open source data sharing over the past decade, such as Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR), randomForest (rF), R, and GITHUB, offer the opportunity to improve the accuracy and precision of Predictive Ecosystem Mapping to meet current demands for climate adaptation, forest regeneration, productivity estimates, carbon sequestration, strategic, tactical and operational planning, and wildlife habitat conservation and management. Innovative methodologies for ecosystem mapping and other secondary applications are currently in development under the initiative of the ministry-led PEM Methods Team: 'Advancing Predictive Ecosystem Mapping Methods for Multiple Scale Ecological Interpretation of Climate Futures in British Columbia - A FLNR ENV UNBC UBC TRU Dalhousie U Collaboration'.
THE SERVICES REQUIRED IN THIS CONTRACT ARE FIELD PREPARATION, TRAINING AND SAMPLING TO RECORD BIOGEOCLIMATIC ECOSYSTEM CLASSIFICATION (BEC) SITE SERIES INTERPRETATIONS FOR 220 PAIRS OF 750 M TRIANGULAR TRANSECTS, IN NON-PARKLAND BEC SUBZONES/VARIANTS, WHICH WILL BE USED FOR MODEL TRAINING IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF PREDICTIVE ECOSYSTEM MAPPING (PEM).
