Description : This project seeks to have Canada rejoin one of the world-s top international survey ventures, the International Social Survey Programme (ISSP), for 2023 and beyond. As the first phase of this project, an online survey will be run in Fall 2023 and focus on Canadians' attitudes and characteristics in the areas of national identity, citizenship, immigration, work, government representativeness, and social support. Upon successful completion of this first survey, there will be three more ISSP surveys to administer in Canada between 2025-2028.The purpose of this first phase of the study is to better understand social divisions and social inequalities in Canada, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic, and compare attitudes notably on immigration and the role of government over time (since 2003-2004) and across regions within Canada as well as merge the survey responses with data from up to 43 other ISSP countries to enable international comparisons.
