- Tender are invited for HP Cosmos T150 DE MED Treadmills
Project Description : The Department is developing a novel therapy for treatment-resistant PTSD called Multi-modal Motion-assisted Memory Desensitization and Reconsolidation (3MDR). 3MDR involves conducting talk therapy while the patient is in a virtual environment. It includes walking on a treadmill and viewing various visual stimuli, including images associated with the patient's trauma, on a large visual display. Initial studies have found that 3MDR therapy has been successful in treating treatment-resistant PTSD in military members and Veterans, for whom other forms of therapy (including drug therapy) have not worked. Currently, a clinical study is being conducted to further investigate 3MDR therapy as a treatment method at multiple sites in Edmonton and Calgary including the University of Alberta and other collaborating clinical sites.A clinical site is currently using the HP Cosmos T150 DE MED Treadmill. The same treadmills are critical to ensure hardware consistency for scientific validity and to facilitate software development and technical support; which would be substantially more difficult and costly if different sites were to have different treadmill hardware.Cosmed USA Inc is the only supplier able to supply the HP Cosmos T150 DE MED Treadmills.
