- Remedial work to complete the fire separation between the basement and the ground floor above.
Existing ceiling tile in the project area to be removed. Due to the complexity of existing ductwork and piping, it is proposed that a new fire rated ceiling be constructed below theductwork, piping and conduits with the ceiling membrane (2 layers of 5/8” Type ‘X- GWB) and light gauge steel framing comprising the required 1 hour fire separation. Penetrations throughfire separations to be properly addressed - ductwork requires fire dampers, piping and conduit requires fire caulking around the perimeter of the penetrations.
