Summary Details:
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Fisheries, Extension and Support Services Branch (the Ministry) is intending to direct award a general service agreement contract for the delivery of a comprehensive review of the Potential Economic Impact of loss of the Okanagan Kootenay Sterile Insect Release Program (OKSIR) to B.C. Apple Growers.
The Ministry is looking to expand on a previous assessment on the economic viability of the Okanagan-Kootenay Sterile Insect Release Program (OKSIR) performed by Cascadia Partners. The program assessment supports the commitment made by the Ministry to collaborate with key industry stakeholders on the Tree Fruit Industry Stabilization Plan - A Path Forward: A blueprint for B.C.'s tree fruit industry. The OKSIR program was launched in 1992 in response to the devastating losses to B.C.'s pomme fruit industry due to the invasive codling moth. The Ministry requires a detailed program impact assessment to determine the importance of the OKSIR program to the success of B.C.'s tree fruit industry.
