Description:
The Corporation of the City of Mississauga (“the City”) is seeking the services from qualified vendors for the supply, delivery, and unloading of between 22,000 and 25,000 native plants annually on an as required basis for naturalization, restoration, street, and park tree plantings.
Each year, between 13,000 and 15,000 native plants are ordered on an as-required basis for naturalization plantings in parks and natural areas. The plantings are undertaken by volunteers through City-led programming. Similarly, 1,000-1,500 caliper-sized trees are ordered to be planted along boulevards and within parkland by contractors working on behalf of the City. Contractors working on behalf of the City also plant between 5,000 to 7,500 native trees and shrubs as part of naturalization and restoration projects.
Using native plant material from regionally sourced stock is of utmost importance as it allows the areas to be restored back to a natural state and increases biodiversity.
It is the intent to award the Contract, if any, to the most suitable vendor for a period of ten (10) years, beginning in the fall of 2025. Suitability will be assessed through a proposal document submitted by the vendor.
